Review of the Course in Miracles

A Course In Miracles by Helen Schucman is a 1976 book written by Helen Schucman with a foreword by John Assaraf. The premise is that the best "miracle" there ever was in the act of just getting a "full awareness of the presence of love." Schucman claimed this to be the second revelation received from the Lord Jesus Christ.

This idea of putting your life into a higher state of consciousness via personal experience is called "aciphany." The idea of applying this same principle to everyday living and being completely open to the New Thought that comes from Experience is also called "acime." According to HELEN Schucman, all one needs to do in order to make a big impact on the world and create miracles is to take the first step and "acimate oneself." The Course in Miracles, published by Doubleday, Inc., is designed to help people like us who are trying to open ourselves to New Thought by training the mind to accept a new way of thinking.

As I read the book, I noticed that it was divided into three sections: Intuition, The Power of Vision, and The Inner Peace. These three sections are the key to helping anyone who is serious about experiencing the kind of changes in their lives that are called "acimes." It's quite a large book and does require that you go through a lot of exercises to increase your acime level. However, I think that after reading the three sections, you'll find that it makes more sense to go directly to the third section and apply what you have learned there directly to your life, to your daily life, and to the world around you.

One thing that impressed me about the Course in Miracles was the way that Helen Schucman presented the chapters. Unlike most New Age teachings, where the author tends to describe the symptoms and signs of certain changes, Schucman focuses on the actual causes, the neurological impulses, that cause acim. I found that when I understood what was happening, it opened up other kinds of thinking, other ways of looking at the world. I didn't think of myself as a psychic before, but I did think of myself as a wapnick.

In The Course in Miracles, Helen Schucman makes a distinction between being a psychic and being a wapnick. She calls herself a wapnick because she has had experiences with people who have committed suicide over fears of going insane and being locked inside their own heads. This kind of scenario does not occur in real life. But our brains are wired the way they are, just like computers. What Schucman is doing is using her own experience, schooling herself in the techniques of hypnosis, which allows her to change the way you think and the way you respond to situations.

I found that The Course in Miracles was more helpful than many New Age gurus make it out to be. Rather than teaching you things and then having you spend months working through all the steps, this text helped me do all that I could quickly and in the privacy of my own home. People can learn how to use these techniques from home with books like this. Whether you want to work on your driving or improve your sales, Acim and the other miracles of science-based reality will help you.
